Shanna Anise
Living Thru Purpose
"Stay Out the Damn Box" is her motto! Originally from the DMV area where she began her creative
journey at the age of 6 years old. Shanna knew her passion for the arts as it began with performing arts,
specifically dance. Growing up in an artistic environment only embellished her unique personality as a
maturing artist. She attended Duke Ellington School of the Arts as a dance major where she also learned
the ins and outs of how to work a full production. This is where her hair profession began and never
stopped. Styling hair for costume design for plays, dance concerts and other performances allowed
Shanna to develop her range of hair artistry in entertainment. Shanna has also studied at Alvin Ailey
School and Dance Theatre of Harlem where the bigger picture of stage performance and theatre
brightened her eyes to broaden her artistry. At Howard University where she received her B.F.A in
Theatre Arts Administration (2007), hair was more than the regular salon visit for some of her clientele.
In 2007, Shanna relocated to Atlanta, GA to pursue her career in entertainment industry. She has over
20 years hair care and styling experience behind her as she continues to gain more education and
knowledge to better serve her clients. Upon moving to Atlanta to make her mark as a hair stylist she
began working with a Casting company ATL Talent as Akini Jeffery’s assistant. This position helped her to
use her production talents while networking. Shanna also received her Masters Degree in Media
Psychology from Touro University. This enabled her to delve deeper into her passion for helping young girls and women in the
arts. She has proven to stay true to her passion and purpose.
"All aspects of my background have evenly contributed to my artistry. The best classroom I had was
performing on stage.”
Shanna has made a reputation for herself for her outstanding work and unique avant garde hair
creations in collaboration with her natural holistic techniques in natural haircare.

her artistic passion, she is also building her education for her career.
